Reiki Heals. Do You?

Hit a bi-i-i-g pothole while driving and what happens?  There goes your wheel alignment!  It doesn't matter whether you had that alignment yesterday or a year ago:  if it's messed up it's messed up, and you are going to need another.

Reiki is like that wheel alignment, it occurs to me.  It works.  It does the job, balancing, clearing, healing.  But what happens after a treatment, after the client leaves the table?

A surgeon can cut out a lung cancer, but what if the patient continues to chain smoke after surgery?  The patient or client must act to support their wellness if they wish to maintain it.   Persist in doing what supports your imbalance, disease, or illness however and you will experience more imbalance, disease, illness. 

Collaboration is the operative word!  You have the power to be well, right now.  And Reiki is there--here--to assist as needed. 

New Moon, New Start

Today's New Moon energies can be like wind at our backs if we make use of them.

Unwelcome Energy

A client wrote me recently with a question.  She is considering Reiki training and wondered if  "...in allowing [Reiki] energy to flow in, a negative or unwanted energy might also be able to enter."  It's a good question, and a perfectly valid concern. 

The fact is, we live in an energy soup:  all sorts of energies are affecting us all the time.   We can't so much as look at a person without our energy entering them.  You've experienced this when you've felt eyes penetrating from behind you and it caused you to turn around.  Enter a room where an argument has just occurred and you will sense tension in the air.

Situations like these aren't particularly bothersome.  But there are times when an energy latches on:  something enters and stays, and it interferes with our well being.  All of us are prey to errant, unwanted energies entering our energy fields just walking around in life.  Reiki can clear these disturbances.  My client was reassured to learn that opening to Reiki energy could only benefit her.

With or without Reiki, we can only be victims of the world of energy when we fail to exercise our privilege to participate with it, to actively engage it.  The range from novice to master in doing so is but a matter of degrees. Protection from--or intrusion by--unwanted energies can even be as near as your next thought.  To quote author and entrepreneur Mike Dooley, "Thoughts become things:  choose them wisely!"

Story Telling

This message presented itself during a recent client treatment, a client with a long-standing complaint.  I share it here because it relates to so many of us.  It is good to be reminded that whatever it is that dogs us, that follows us around despite our best intentions, remedies, advancements in consciousness and etcetera, is there by our invitation. 

You cannot have relief from a story
you keep telling.

The refrain of our complaint--not enough money, work, health, love--is actually our key.  It either keeps us confined or gives us our freedom, depending upon how we use it.  Lament it oh no, not you again and nothing changes.  Recognize it as key, take that key in hand and use it, and voila:  freedom!

We are always our own jailers.  We are always possessed of the choice to either keep a complaint around by keeping its story going, or setting it free, and ourselves along with it.  We just cannot keep eating horsehair expecting it to be anything other than dry dry dry.  Well, we can, but it won't do us much good!

How Healing Happens--or Doesn't

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: 
Reiki works.  Every single energy treatment is powerful and effective--at least to the extent that it is invited and allowed.  A lot happens, every time--whether or not the client feels it.  As an energy sensitive, I am privy to what happens.  And because I know that the healee can "undo" the benefit of a treatment in as little time as it takes to rise from the table, I think it's important to share what transpired so the client can have the chance to actively participate in retaining and maintaining the benefit of the treatment.

We are each minute supporting or undermining our well being according to our choices, thoughts and beliefs.  I've heard it said that the body resolves (cures, if you will) myriad nascent ailments, illnesses and diseases--cancers included--without the help of doctors or remedies, all the time.  I would say it does this without our help even, but it's not so.  We help by placing our consciousness in a beneficial posture.

What am I talking about?  Well, I could elaborate, but I came across these wise and eloquent words as spoken by Abraham on precisely this topic.  Since they articulate so well what I might have said, I will offer them to you instead:

Your sophisticated physical body exists because of the intelligence of your cells. And the intelligence of your cells exists because of their Connection to Source Energy.

When doctors and scientists try to find cures for diseases without taking into consideration the Vibrational relationship between the physical Being and Source Energy, they are looking for cures in all the wrong places. If the resistance that disallowed the Well-Being to begin with is not released, it will show up in the form of another and another disease.

Your cells, because of their connection to the intelligence of Source Energy, know exactly what to do in order to become the incredible variety of functioning cells in your magnificent physical body. And in the absence of the hindrance that is caused by your resistant [nonbeneficial] thought, that communication stays open to clear, up-to-the-moment interaction, keeping your physical body at peak and perfect performance.

In the absence of [undermining] emotion—and therefore [with] the allowance of complete alignment and communication with Source Energy—your physical body can reclaim its balance and recover from any imbalance. And once balance has resumed, it is easy to maintain with consistently good-feeling thoughts.

Healing happens at the source of the condition, or not at all.

No Past, No Future

One continuous present, time as a construct versus reality: I have understood these concepts intellectually--even deeply so. But my understanding remained intellectual until relatively recently. It is one thing to know or say there is no past or future, to say "there is no time;" it is another to live it. Reiki grounds my understanding in direct experience.

Consider these words I encountered while reading on Kabbalistic thought as it relates to the concept of time:

Only by transcending the boundaries of "created time," even in its profoundest sense as a continuous present moment, can we approach the true nature of reality.

So what is the true nature of reality?

Last week I felt a crushed leg under my hands during a Reiki treatment--not the physical leg, but the... energetic leg--a "previous" leg, I presumed. Was it the leg of a "past" life? Might it have been the leg of a "future" life? Such distinctions are irrelevant in the continuous now, in "no time." What was and is relevant is that my client's leg needed Reiki now. Perceiving the crushed leg, I knew why.

I know it sounds peculiar and perhaps dramatic to say I sensed a crushed leg under my hands, especially when the leg I touched is not crushed at all. But what can I tell you? I don't go looking for such phenomena. Reiki simply knows what It's doing, and when something like this shows up, it shows up for a good reason.

My client is no stranger to metaphysical phenomena, thankfully. So when I share my finding with her afterwards, she gets it. Together we make the connection to "current" trouble with that leg, in this "present" lifetime. I watch something go "click" in her energy field. That click is the injury pattern becoming unnecessary--expiring, so to speak. It needn't recur any longer. Awareness has replaced blindness. Consciousness is awake to something it was ignorant of just moments earlier. Conditions and beliefs can--and do!--play themselves out again and again in the background over many lifetimes. But once a pattern is revealed, the jig is up!

Relating to the "past" as present puts a whole different slant on healing. The components of "previous"--and even "future"--lives become integral to our well being now. And in the timeless now, we have direct access to them all.

It's Not Personal

At the lungs, I saw a soldier, wounded on the left side. I saw this very clearly. When I say "saw," I mean that this wounded soldier materialized energetically under my hands as I treated my client. I was reading information just as if the wounded man were lying on the table. When I moved to the client's shoulder and elbow, I got that he (the soldier) had lost his arm from the elbow down. This was confirmed when I reached the elbow and wrist.

By the time I moved to his hand, the story came together. I sensed/saw a grenade in his hand. I realized it must have exploded.

It felt like the arm was at war with itself energetically--lower arm with upper arm--and there was guilt in the hand, blame and contempt for it in the arm. As the Reiki flowed, they all seemed to be making peace with one another. After a time, I felt forgiveness between arm and hand: beautiful.

I did not go looking for any of this, but I had opened to it. I put my energy field at "2 % Kathryn," as I call it, and the rest was automatic. As the Reiki was running, all this ran with it.

I told this client about the past life after the treatment.

"Yeah, and I was shot at," he said: this life as a soldier wasn't news to him.

He'd mentioned pain in that arm at a prior session, and when I treated it, a woman had shown up, I remember--again, energetically. She seemed contrite, apologetic. Today, he tells me his mother broke that arm. Ah, there it is, I thought.

There was the lineage of this energy pattern--two lifetimes' worth, anyway. I understood when he shared this piece of the puzzle that it was the energetic unrest--the arm at war with itself--that drew the broken arm to him. None of this wounding was his fault, of course. He was blind to the pattern repeating itself--right up until the moment when he wasn't blind to it any longer.

Things happen to us, some of them unpleasant--some of them violent, even. Of course there is healing when a detrimental energy pattern is resolved. But beyond that there is the deep peace that can come from understanding the source of a pattern. It is important to realize that in the world of energy, likes, not opposites, attract. If my boundaries aren't clear for example, I vibrate the energy pattern "I have wiggly boundaries," and should not be surprised when people step over them. The energy is "dumb," and that's important to remember as well.

"This horrible thing happened to me: you should have compassion!" one might cry, as if such things happen at random. Such things happen because energy is reading energy all the time, matching with what it matches and bypassing what it doesn't match. The so-called "law of attraction" is not personal; it simply does what it does, without playing favorites and without exceptions. Still, some jump to blame at hearing this:

"You're saying I attracted that?!"

Did my client attract his broken arm? Did he want his mother to break his arm? No. He did not want his arm broken, and he did not attract the injury. But his arm did, his energy did, unbeknownst to him. Clearing that energy, he is free from drawing injury to it again. Then the war is over.
